Beverly Hills Overlook
We were presented with a unique opportunity to connect two contemporary homes through the medium of landscape. The homes were designed by McClean Design, and are perched along a ridge in Beverly Hills with views of the entire Los Angeles basin. The clients asked us to design a pathway that would connect the two houses, but the slopes were too steep. We worked with a consultant team to create an elevated walkway with planted areas, a small lawn for the children to play on, and a more adult oriented lounge area. The resulting walkway meanders through existing mature Oaks and Sycamore trees. We augmented the planting on the hillside to stabilize it with native California shrubs and trees. The feeling of walking through this landscape is exhilarating.
Other unique landscape elements include a dramatic entrance with cantilevered limestone pavers crossing a koi pond, several custom designed water features and intimate courtyard spaces. We also designed a green roof over the buildings to integrate the architecture with the landscape. This project was created while at Pamela Burton and Company as Director of Design.
