TROUSDALE II

This residence and garden have been designed to capture the essence of the 1960s modernist aestheticthat defines the Trousdale Estates neighborhood in Beverly Hills. In collaboration with the architect, we worked to seamlessly integrate the interior and exterior spaces, using planting and paving to create a harmonious flow. The landscape features layered plantings that soften the sleek surfaces of the house, adding depth and dimension to the spaces. Small garden courtyards are positioned adjacent to the home, treated as vignettes that offer different perspectives from various angles. Given the clients’ infrequent use of the residence, we designed the gardens to be low-maintenance and water-efficient, yet filled with interesting foliage shapes and textures that evoke the glamour of mid-century design.
