201 FOLSOM CONDOMINIUMS
This project is currently under construction near the Embarcadero district of downtown San Francisco. The project team includes Tishman Speyer Properties, Arquitectonica and Heller-Manus Architects. This project was created while at Pamela Burton and Company as Director of Design. Beginning at the street level, we had a unique opportunity of widened parkways which we developed into Green Streets for people and pets. There are urban gardens adjacent to the sidewalks that people can walk through, café seating, pet relief areas, and planted areas that treat rainwater before it percolates into the ground. We worked closely with City agencies and studied the microclimates to develop the character of each of the four streets surrounding the property.
On the podium level between the four towers we developed a planting palette that will respond to the windy, shaded microclimate while acknowledging the cultural aspects of San Francisco. It is a garden that will have sinuous topography and will be delightful to view from above. The plant materials will reflect each season with color and texture.
The roof levels will contain green roofs to reduce the urban heat island effect while providing a beautiful canvas of color for the surrounding towers. Other roof terraces will contain amenities including outdoor dining, strolling paths, vegetable gardens and a gathering area for outdoor movies.
